Todays security words of wisdom: don't open or save Word files that you receive from untrusted sources, or even ones that you receive unexpectedly from someone you trust.

Microsoft is warning of a serious vulnerability in Word, stemming from a new, unpatched memory corruption error in the word processor.

Hackers are exploiting (as far as we know, on a limited basis) the zero-day flaw in Office applications. Microsoft Word 2000, 2002, 2003, Word Viewer 2003, Word 2004 for Mac, and Word 2004 v. X for Mac, as well as Microsoft Works 2004, 2005, and 2006 are all vulnerable.

We'll keep you posted with any news of security fixes. For now, be careful about opening any Microsoft Office attachments.
