How to Remove Word Proser
Word Proser by Wordprosers LLC is a free ad-supported software “that makes searching and translating information you find online easy. Take any text you see online, highlight it, and Word Proser will show the Wikipedia and Bing results in an in-page window. That means you don’t have to open up a new window, go to a search engine, and type in your search. Word Proser puts relevant information just a highlight away”.
Once you highlight a word on a webpage, you will see a small ‘WP’ icon that opens a window with Wiki/Bing search results for this word, as well as translation and thesaurus tabs:
The program is active on http:// websites only; when a connection is encrypted (https:// websites), you won't see the WordProser icon while highlighting words.
Before we provide you with removal instructions, please find below a few facts about this program.
It is usually distributed by bundling to free software using pay-per-install marketing method; so it may sneak to your PC as a part of another installation without you noticing this.
Word Proser may generate different intrusive advertisements; it is usually mentioned during program installation:
“In order to keep Word Proser free you may see banner, text, pop-up, pop-under, interstitial, video, coupon, and/or in-text advertisements through the software on websites where features operate and during general internet usage. An example of these ads is shown below. These advertisements are not the responsibility of the underlying site. Word Proser shares non-personally identifiable information, including search and URL history, to advertising partners to improve product performance.”
A process called ‘wpsvc.exe’ automatically starts with every Windows boot, even if you don’t use your browser:
Several antivirus companies detect some of Word Proser files:
• wpsvc.exe (C:\Program Files\WordProser_1.10.0.1\Service\wpsvc.exe)
• WordProserClientIE.dll (C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\WordProser_1.10.0.1\IE\WordProserClientIE.dll)
• wordproser-setup-1.10.0.2.exe – installation setup file
• wpnfd.sys (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\wpnfd_1_10_0_1.sys)
