ASC Public Workshop
Last week, along with other groups, security companies, and government agencies combating spyware and malware, members of the Lavasoft team attended the Anti-Spyware Coalition Public Workshop in Washington, DC.
We also had the opportunity to lend our own expertise - Lavasoft malware researcher Janie Whitty, aka Calamity Janie, was a guest speaker on the User Behavior & Spyware panel, alongside other notable panelists from McAfee, Consumer Reports, and the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
As administrator of the Lavasoft Support Forums, where she works directly with computer users who have fallen victim to malware, Janie has in-depth knowledge from the front lines of the malware fight. Her report focused on the risky user behavior that enables infection, as well as what steps need to be taken to battle the proliferation of spyware and malware.
Audio and slides from most of the panels, including Janies, are now online.
