Todays crime and punishment security news: police in Canada have busted a hacker ring that is believed to have run a botnet of up to one million zombie PCs, involving 100 countries around the globe.
Following an investigation of organized cyber crime, police arrested 17 people in what they say is the largest hacking scam in Canadian history. The suspects, all between the ages of 17 and 26, are believed to have made profits as high as $45 million from cyber crime related activities like phishing and indentity theft, according to reports.
