Summary:

Worm. A program that is primarily replicating on networks or removable drives.

Payload

Behaviour Description
WormAutorun A worm can spread via removable drives. It writes its executable and creates "autorun.inf" scripts on all removable drives. The autorun script will execute the Worm's file once a user opens a drive's folder in Windows Explorer.

Process activity

The Worm creates the following process(es):

KEY.exe:440
%original file name%.exe:1268

The Worm injects its code into the following process(es):

iexplore.exe:2328
Explorer.EXE:1852

Mutexes

The following mutexes were created/opened:
No objects were found.

File activity

The process KEY.exe:440 makes changes in the file system.
The Worm creates and/or writes to the following file(s):

%WinDir%\WIN32\alg.exe (1425 bytes)
%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Local Settings\Temp\XX--XX--XX.txt (235 bytes)

The process %original file name%.exe:1268 makes changes in the file system.
The Worm creates and/or writes to the following file(s):

%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Local Settings\Temp\KEY.exe (35300 bytes)

Registry activity

The process KEY.exe:440 makes changes in the system registry.
The Worm creates and/or sets the following values in system registry:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG]
"Seed" = "CB FD FB 72 55 AA D5 7A A5 D0 31 1A 38 1A D8 70"

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{VFOMB6JT-157A-T36E-P5H2-7Y87A1440L1S}]
"StubPath" = "%WinDir%\WIN32\alg.exe Restart"

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run]
"Policies" = "%WinDir%\WIN32\alg.exe"

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"Policies" = "%WinDir%\WIN32\alg.exe"

To automatically run itself each time Windows is booted, the Worm adds the following link to its file to the system registry autorun key:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"system32" = "%WinDir%\WIN32\alg.exe"

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"System" = "%WinDir%\WIN32\alg.exe"

The process %original file name%.exe:1268 makes changes in the system registry.
The Worm creates and/or sets the following values in system registry:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG]
"Seed" = "13 C5 59 F5 31 A5 F4 BB 03 63 7F 17 5C 39 A8 EE"

The Worm modifies IE settings for security zones to map all web-nodes that bypassing the proxy to the Intranet Zone:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap]
"ProxyBypass" = "1"

The Worm modifies IE settings for security zones to map all urls to the Intranet Zone:

"IntranetName" = "1"

The Worm modifies IE settings for security zones to map all local web-nodes with no dots which do not refer to any zone to the Intranet Zone:
