Summary:

Worm. A program that is primarily replicating on networks or removable drives.

Payload

Behaviour Description
WormAutorun A worm can spread via removable drives. It writes its executable and creates "autorun.inf" scripts on all removable drives. The autorun script will execute the Worm's file once a user opens a drive's folder in Windows Explorer.

Process activity

The Worm creates the following process(es):

%original file name%.exe:2020
%original file name%.exe:1220
svshost.exe:2396
svshost.exe:2264

The Worm injects its code into the following process(es):

iexplore.exe:2064
Explorer.EXE:840

Mutexes

The following mutexes were created/opened:
No objects were found.

File activity

The process %original file name%.exe:2020 makes changes in the file system.
The Worm creates and/or writes to the following file(s):

%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\windows\svshost.exe (7345 bytes)
%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Local Settings\Temp\XX--XX--XX.txt (235 bytes)

Registry activity

The process %original file name%.exe:2020 makes changes in the system registry.
The Worm creates and/or sets the following values in system registry:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG]
"Seed" = "AC 67 84 58 C8 61 5A 38 A7 D7 D4 C7 B1 D6 F8 4E"

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run]
"Policies" = "c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup\windows\svshost.exe"

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{2S248K5B-F04F-5567-4GR0-7CJ1K406625B}]
"StubPath" = "c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup\windows\svshost.exe Restart"

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"Policies" = "c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup\windows\svshost.exe"

To automatically run itself each time Windows is booted, the Worm adds the following link to its file to the system registry autorun key:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"HKCU" = "c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup\windows\svshost.exe"

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"HKLM" = "c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\startup\windows\svshost.exe"

The process %original file name%.exe:1220 makes changes in the system registry.
The Worm creates and/or sets the following values in system registry:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG]
"Seed" = "6C FF 89 F9 5A 30 0F 1A A3 6F B8 92 0A 54 03 8A"

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"AppData" = "%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Application Data"
"Cache" = "%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"

The process svshost.exe:2396 makes changes in the system registry.
The Worm creates and/or sets the following values in system registry:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG]
"Seed" = "84 45 14 A4 7B 1C 15 3B 99 24 0F D6 BD 5C 3A 42"

The process svshost.exe:2264 makes changes in the system registry.
The Worm creates and/or sets the following values in system registry:

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG]
"Seed" = "00 FC FA 6D D5 05 00 D4 11 C5 FE 15 A1 86 7F CB"

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
"AppData" = "%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Application Data"
"Cache" = "%Documents and Settings%\%current user%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"
