News broke this week of another incident involving high-level cyber crime stemming from China –

Researchers in Toronto, Canada have uncovered evidence of a malware network, controlled by servers in China, that has reportedly compromised computer systems in the Office of the Dalai Lama, the Indian government, the United Nations, and other organizations. The report on the attack, called ‘Shadows in the Cloud: Investigating Cyber Espionage 2.0,’ details an eight-month long investigation put together by the Shadowserver Foundation and the Information Warfare Monitor. The report states that there is no evidence of involvement by Chinese authorities; a link is shown, though, to individuals based in Chengdu, China and to the underground hacking community in China.
