We've warned you before about websites that misrepresent themselves as Lavasoft affiliates and sell copies of our software that are not legitimate or supported by our company. It’s come to our attention that a site we issued a past word of warning on, oemlib.com, is operating under a number of other domains, all with a similar appearance, including:

What’s so misleading about these sites? They offer outdated versions of Lavasoft software products (like Ad-Aware 2008 Pro); they purport to offer the software at a “bargain price”, misrepresenting the retail price for three times it’s actual price; they claim to be able to offer these “deals” due to purchasing products in auctions or from companies that have gone out of business, when in reality the software they sell is cracked and unauthorized copies.

While the team here at Lavasoft is following up on these deceptive sites to make sure that users like you don’t end up falling for ploys, it’s another reminder that you always need to stay on your toes when buying products online and searching for the best deals. As we’ve said before, we can offer three tips that can help:

1. Always buy directly from the source or from a legitimate reseller.
2. Before you buy, exercise some caution and do a little research on the product and seller.
3. If you are suspicious of a Lavasoft product purchase, you can always double check that the sale is through one of our legitimate resellers or affiliates by contacting sales@lavasoft.com.
