Lavasoft at Virus Bulletin 2009
Lavasoft was at the Virus Bulletin conference again last week, this time as one of the main sponsors. The folks from GData were there with their now infamous annual foosball tournament, or table football as it's formally known - for serious players (like our Microsoft adversaries), or for fun-loving teams like the ladies of Lavasoft.
Personally, I think the fact that the GData team won the tourney had something to do with those spiffy white leather gloves that they put on just before every game.
This year we decided to give the foosball tournament some competition, and we held a Wii competition over at the Lavasoft booth - great fun for the young and old, serious and not so serious. We also gave away a Wii machine and Dennis at Kaspersky walked away with the top prize after a hard-earned battle at the Wii table tennis game against Steve from OPSWAT.
One of our guys observed, "we attended this year's Virus Bulletin conference...some highlights included watching grown men almost physically fight to win the Lavasoft Wii, a yodeling competition, highly articulate-thought provoking-intelligent cabaret from men with mad hair, and some seriously big lunch buffets. I still feel full."
And yes, there was plenty of serious at VB 2009. with sessions like "PE-Probe: leveraging packer detection and structural information to detect malicious portable executables."
Thanks, VB, for another great industry conference!
