Last week, along with other groups, security companies, and government agencies combating spyware and malware, members of the Lavasoft team attended the Anti-Spyware Coalition Public Workshop in Washington, DC.
You may read product reviews, but how much do you know about the anti-malware product testing process?
We'd like to call your attention to one of our recent white papers, "How NOT to Test Anti-Malware Products" by Lavasoft CTO Joe Wells. You can find the article online in the Lavasoft Security Center.
Stay tuned for future white papers on the subject of correct anti-malware product testing.
We're happy to announce that notable malware analyst Dave Nelson joined the Lavasoft team today, November 1, 2007.
Dave, aka Atribune in PC security circles, is well-known for his online work in malware removal and computer help forums, and has been recognized as a Microsoft MVP (Most Valued Professional) for Windows - Security since 2006.
For your reading pleasure, in this months Lavasoft News we've brought you an insightful look at social engineering with an article by our own Joe Wells.
Joe's article, Social Engineering - Good Triggers and Bad Triggers, was also published in Septembers Cyber Security Industry Alliance newsletter, which featured Lavasoft in its "member spotlight."
Something to keep in mind - Lavasoft is so very aware of what directly affects our customers - you do a great job keeping us informed of what is happening in your computing lives. We'll soon be addressing one of the major e-mail annoyances and will release a new spam filter to help you combat the barrage of spam that must be invading your e-mail inbox on a daily basis now.
Now in my third week as CEO of Lavasoft, I've had a chance (a brief one, at that) to catch my breath and write a few of my thoughts on this new position and on where I plan to lead Lavasoft in the coming months, and beyond.
This position is certainly a challenge, but it is one I am excited to take on in terms of realizing the opportunities we have before us and shaping the future of Lavasoft, at the same time renewing our commitment to protect computer users worldwide.
Let me take a quick moment to explain for you one of the ways we are 'walking the walk' when it comes to making real social change in this burgeoning malware industry. We belong to two organizations that you should be familiar with, if only from a point of interest.
We are happy to announce that Joe Wells will be joining the Lavasoft team as chief technology officer.
Joe is well-known for his extensive career in anti-Trojan and anti-virus solutions as well as his more recent work within anti-spyware and emerging security threats. You may also know him as the founder of the WildList Organization International, an international cooperative identifying and reporting the latest virus threats.
